I don't like PVP, especially the only being able to change it once per VE, it sorta bugs me. Maybe if we had a way to turn it on and off whenever, I think I would like it more

we all must remember, sure it might be tough for all the ikkle yearlings, but those supremes, ultimates etc once started out as yearlings and they got over all the pvp issues. So sure it might be unfair for the yearlings now, but once they reach god I'm sure they won't be complaining then!

I am a noob and have not tried it yet because I read good players should not do it (plus I am not yet high enough, but I did disable it which I like). If it would not negatively affect good/evil status I would try it for sure. I also see from the above comments that my choice to turn it off was certainly good for now. :-)

Pvps are brilliant, just speeds up the whole leveling process. some of us just come on here to level and that's it, it shouldn't be taken away from us. you can always opt to turn it off if you don't like it.

Without PvP, I'd still be a Fourthyear or summit...

Agreed too.

Well, it's not that I hate it but I just don't like it when I'm offline someone takes all my galleons from PVP. And it makes me a little bad in Alignment.

I like them..you gain a lot of experience!

funboy • Thursday, October 30, 2014 - 6:04am • #10

I like PvP because if you don't like to get killed you can turn it off. But if you like getting the chance of getting lucky and getting gold/experience or getting favor to haunt people or to live and do the process all over again if you like.

sincerely,
funboy

I like PvP. If you're out of forest fights, this is an excellent way to level and VE. It's also good for revenge. >:D

I love to PvP but I wish it sensed how high you were so that it didn't have to give high players to firsties or vice versa.

Come on, are you kidding me? PvP is unfair towards yearlings? The whole PvP system is designed to protect them as much as possible.

-As a new player, you are protected from PvP for your first 5 game days or until you accumulate 800 experience, unless you choose to attack another player. (directly from the FAQ)
-If you don't log in at all, you can only be killed twice during a 24 hour period (once every 12 hours when the system kicks everyone off and refills the PvP lists).
-When you are attacked and killed, you lose only 1.5% of the exp you have. Not that yearlings have that much exp to lose anyway.
-If you're worried about the gold you have on hand, just deposit it to Gringotts. You don't even have to travel anymore to do that.
-And the most important thing: you can only attack/be attacked (by) players close to your level. This measure has been specifically implemented to protect people who have only a few VEs, because when you have 500 VEs and your att/def is in the hundreds, the 10 extra points from levels make absolutely no difference.

I realise some might consider PvP unfair because yearlings have absolutely no chance to defeat, say, a Supreme God, but the certainty that you will win some fights is earned by devoting hours, days to levelling. It's a privilege that strong players have earned with their effort, not something that was granted to them.

If you don't like being killed, turn PvP off. If you don't like being a weakling, get stronger. :P

Finally, let's not pretend that ickle firsties or legionnaires are some sort of prize. They're at the bottom of the HL food chain, usually attacked because there's no one else on the list. The only ones below them are old players who haven't logged in two bajillion days and have no exp left to give.
If you think you have it bad, just ask any Supreme God(dess) who is levelling actively. Those guys and girls get picked off nearly every time they log out, because they have enough VEs to give decent exp and are weak enough to be food for several hundred players. :D

PvP itself is a good feature. However, it would be nice if we could PvP in groups according to an average amount of VEs. Such as: 0~5 VEs, 6~10 VEs, 11~15 VEs and so on.

PVP is not bogus, its a bonus.

It's fun for me but it does stress me when I die from a firsty XD

I like PvP, but only when I lose. The extra time I spend at a low level benefits me. Please don't attack me if you can't win.

This is a super dead discussion, but BlackZephyr's comment really summed up everything that needed to be said about it.

I'd just like to emphasize, succinctly, that it is not possible to VE at higher VE counts quickly without PvP, and if it were taken from the game, it would completely hamstring any sort of fast-VE-grind playstyle that I and others enjoy.

I feel like PvP is fun and good to get extra XP but it's totally unfair for first years and people should only be able to versus others in their same year.

Canary Wolfsbanewillow • Wednesday, February 8, 2017 - 9:32am • #21

I find it a pitty that you only can fight players lower than you (if you want any chance to win). I find it strange that you only can pvp people that are offline. I feel like a coward when I fight against firstyears etc; I would prefer it to challenge people that are almost of the same level.

what evers the popular choice I say

ReallyGuys DarkGlow • Thursday, January 6, 2022 - 5:56am • #23

I like the way it is...well if it's not fair for yearlings then they shouldn't be a yearling..get your VEs upm.and those wo don't like it..just please turn PvP off in your preferences page...as simple as that.
If you can't PvP with just anyone then what's the point of all those VEing??

PrishaRedhood • Monday, January 17, 2022 - 6:51pm • #24

As a yearling, I wouldn't prefer it. I wish it would be between your own VE amount...
