A Quick Memo

We've noticed more people sharing their passwords recently. So from this point on, if you share your password with someone else and your account gets messed with it is YOUR problem. Staff will NOT return your lost items or your account to you if they change your password on you.

taken note of Spinal, thank you for posting this. because honestly it shouldnt be the staff's problem if someone messes with an account. if you give your password to a friend then thats your choice, nobody said you had to so people shouldnt whine to staff if something does happen

I'm actually happy to see a blog, for the first time in awhile. I am glad to see staff is cracking down on this matter. People need to only give their passwords to people they trust, and not ask loads of people to do stuff for them, as it increases the chances of something bad happening. If someone gives out their account information, then staff should not have to give their stuff back if it gets messed with. They chose to give out the information, they can live with the consequences. It is yet again more drama that staff should not have to deal with to have people whining over who "hacked" their account. If you give someone your information, it is not considered hacking, after all. All in all, this blog made me smile. Well said, and nicely done.

Whoever is stupid enough to give someone their account, no matter the reason, deserves to have things messed with. If you're leaving for x period of time and are concerned about account termination, contact the staff. That's the -ONLY- thing I can think of important enough to let someone else on your account.

Who would be dumb enough to do this in the first place?!

I get on my husbands account, staff knows this. It either to RP ridiculously or to level him. (And flirt with Hatch.) I agree that it should never be misused as to changing the password or selling stuff. I've been here 4 years and only gave my password to one person. I would never give it out to another person except Epic because I don't trust you mother #@%kers. Never will. And if you agree to do a favor as in level for them. THAT is the only thing you should be doing. You should even go back and ask the owner each time just to VE and gold placement/purchases. It's about respect and trust and most of you can't even spell Respect. Aretha Franklin can't help you now,

Full agreement. I gave my password to one person and for the simple reason I can't level as much as I would have liked to. The fact I was out of action for about 3 months didn't help this matter. Glad to see a post in here about it.

Since when were people even allowed on other people's accounts? I was on Kyra's a few months back and got banned for 62 days, and because she gave me her password, also got banned. I got told it was "cheating" to let others on, now everyone seems to be doing it. >_

@Aisling You're an amazing super !#@%$ (and by super !#@%$ I mean uber Ru Paul, don't $!#k with me @%$!#@%$ or I'm gonna whoop you til you can't sit)

I was told when I started way back when that we couldn't let others on our accounts, and as far as I can remember, I don't think I have (sue me, its my blondeness). So I ask the HL Gods and Goddess of Staffdom, are we allowed, or not allowed. Or is it frowned upon, but do it at your own risk?

!MostDefinitelyNot SpinalRemains • Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - 11:32pm • #11

@MissMalfoy that is not why you were locked.

You can do it at your own risk. Like I said, they mess with your stuff, its your problem.

Well that's apparently why misspyrate was. Granted, not as long as me, and yes, I understand all that, but still.

oh @Goddess girlikecupcake if you have 200 VEs, your account wont be deleted

Ultimate Goddess girlikecupcake • Thursday, August 12, 2010 - 4:55am • #16

@Supreme God harryPotter- I know this, but it takes a while to get to 200 if you're not online every day, and life does get in the way at times. Four months isn't that long when there's personal drama, it's how I ended up losing my old account. But, I don't condone password sharing in any way, it was just the only semi-reasonable reason I could find.

Unknown Author • Saturday, August 14, 2010 - 7:11am • #17

but really, why would anyone share their passwords to people anyway? thats why its called a secret. really.... how many stupid idiots share their passwords to people? its just stupid. whatever you do on HL, its YOUR FAULT. whatever you do. it's no one elses problem but YOURS. and if you ask an HL friend to level you wile your on vacation or something. they shouldn't be giving money to their own account or even wasting your turns and making you look bad. but if that ever happens..... then why the hell are they your friends anyway!?! only give your passwords to people you know that won't mess with your account because its just wrong.

If your going to share your account, expect it to get messed with it. Account sharing should be banned personally. On many games I play it's worth an IP ban.

RainbowGinna • Tuesday, August 31, 2010 - 2:18pm • #24

I would never share my account I don't trust anyone on the internet unless there family.
