Hogwarts Champions
The school keeps score of nearly everything: defeats, vaults, charm, conduct, card games, terms of office, consecutive logins. Hogwarts Champions is where it files the results. Two doors open into the same trophy room, one inside the game and one out here, and both show the same boards, counted the same way, by an office that never explains its methods and has never once lost a file.
Where It Lives
In the game: the Village, under Hogwarts Champions (older students say Hall of Fame; it is the same page). Every board sits in the navigation, long lists are paginated, and every board except the two club boards can be flipped between its Best and Worst end (the club boards are server-wide lists that only run one way). Most boards can also be limited to All Students, My House, or Among Friends. The friend list lives in your mailbox; a student with no House yet, or no friends yet, is shown everybody, which is the largest and least personal consolation available.
Out of the game: the public Hogwarts Champions page, linked from the front page as See the Rankings. No login needed. The boards sit under eight group tabs, each board shows its top fifty, and every name links to that student's public profile, with a House column whenever anyone on the board has one. The in-game page walks the whole list; the public one stops at fifty, on the grounds that the world's curiosity about rank sixty-two has limits.
The Fine Print
- Gold and gems are blurred. Both boards publish amounts accurate to within five percent, because Gringotts does not share exact vault balances with strangers. No appeal of the rounding has ever been filed.
- A board appears once somebody is on it. Before that it is not there, which the school considers tidier than an empty table.
- A few tallies start late. Quidditch Cups Won, Cup MVPs and Dueling Club Wins count from the day somebody began keeping records. Everything earlier happened, was celebrated at the time, and is on no board.
- Two boards rank clubs, not students, and only clubs that still exist. See the Clubs group below.
Legends
- Voldemort Encounters: total defeats, not cycles. Finish Year Seven and the cycle restarts at Year One; the tally keeps counting anyway.
- Fastest VE: the quickest run, start to finish. The Ministry does not recognize speedrunning as a sanctioned activity, and the Ministry is also not on this board.
- Seven-Year Cycles: full cycles completed. The game calls these Completion Points. The number only goes up; nobody has found the form that takes one back.
- Toughness: most hit points. A Voldemort Encounter resets a student to first-year constitution, so this ranks how far into the current cycle somebody is, not how tough they have ever been.
- Resurrections: times died and returned. The school treats this as an inconvenience rather than an event, and the board counts the inconvenience.
Fortune & Character
- Gold: purse plus vault, within the five percent.
- Gems: the same courtesy as gold, extended to the shinier currency.
- Charm: the social stat, a measure of raw gravity. Not the Charms elective, though several people on the board have confused the two.
- Most Evil and Most Good: the two ends of one conduct ledger. The number shown is the actual balance, so on the evil board the minus sign is load-bearing. Students at exactly zero appear on neither, a state the school files under Nothing To Report.
Combat
- Dueling Club Wins: lifetime wins against other students, counted from the day the tracker was turned on.
- Battle Arena Points: the paid circuit against famous dead Death Eaters. Not the Dueling Club: the Arena books the notorious dead, the Club books your classmates.
- Auror Office Kills and Order of Daggers Kills: confirmed kills by inducted members. Membership alone does not rank you; only the doing appears.
- Co-op Battle Damage: the damage battles actually credited, with battles fought beside it. Enthusiasm past what a battle accepted is admired and not recorded.
Sport & Games
- Quidditch Cups Won and Cup MVPs: from the permanent archive. The champion and the MVP are filed on separate lines and are not always the same student.
- Quidditch: Matches Won: career match wins, Cup or scrimmage, never reset.
- Arcade Champions: one composite across every arcade game, each normalized to the same scale so a chess win can weigh as much as a long run. Per-game boards underneath rank raw high scores, ten deep.
- Card Duel Wins: wins against other students only. A forfeit counts for whoever stayed; draws count as games and nothing else; practice against the Headmaster's Portrait does not appear. Games played and win rate are shown alongside.
- Polyjuice Inquiry Wins: wins as a student plus as an impostor, with inquiries attended beside the number. Fewer inquiries for the same wins ranks higher, since turning up is not the achievement.
Government
- Ministers of Magic: terms served, one per election won.
- Impeached Ministers: times removed by petition. A minister elected, impeached and elected again appears twice, which the Ministry regards as persistence.
- Wizengamot Terms: monthly seats held. A seat given up early does not count, and terms as Chief Warlock are shown beside the number and break ties.
- Orders of Merlin: Third Class, awarded when the Wizengamot passes a measure naming a student for one. There is no First or Second Class, and it is too late to ask what they would have been for.
Collections
- Card Collectors: distinct active cards owned. Retired cards do not count; ties go to more legendaries, then to whoever got there first.
- Fantastic Beasts: species recorded in the bestiary, with total victories beside them, the bestiary's way of noting that some entries were made at close range.
- Badges Earned: earned in play only. Anything with a price on it is a purchase, and the board draws a firm line between earning a thing and owning one.
- Giveaway Exclusives Collected: the one-of-a-kind items from the monthly Exclusive Giveaway. They cannot be bought, traded or begged for, though begging has been attempted.
Clubs
- Club Wars Won: a war counts once it is settled with a winner; a draw is filed under nobody.
- Club Season Titles: each district band crowns a champion monthly, so a club that wins two bands in one month holds two titles and should be asked how.
Community
- Login Streak: the current run of consecutive days, reset to zero by a single missed one.
- Longest Login Streak: the longest run ever reached, kept after the streak itself ends. Freezes and Recoveries are sold, so this is the longest streak on record rather than a claim about virtue.
- Most Generous Giveaway Sponsors: the value, in points, of the prizes a player has paid for in giveaways that were actually drawn. Anonymous sponsors stay anonymous, and canceled giveaways count for nothing.
