Hogwarts Live Blog

The site had to be rolled back once again. Everyone who leveled over the past few days will notice that their stats were set back. This happened to everybody and everybody will have to redo what was lost. Please do not send in any more petitions regarding losing progress.

Congratulations to the new staffers (listed in order of Support Rank*):

SpinalRemains - 24
Stardust - 16
AngelinaJohnson - 14
GloryTo - 12
Necrosis - 5
Alys - 4
CelestialSiren - 4

*Support Rank is a way to measure the current standing of staff members, it is based on a variety of things, please don't ask about it, you won't get an answer and you don't need to know.

If you were nominated or made it to the final tier but did not pass the final selection process please do not owl me about why you were not accepted. Better luck next time! :)

For those few of you who haven't heard, Author J.K. Rowling has released the title of Book 7.

The title can be found at jkrowling.com through the mysterious door.

For those of you who don't want to sneak through the door... or those of you who cannot drag the key from the wind chime (as 4 people so far have told me they've had trouble with), you can also find the answer on amazon.com

Has the new OOTP trailer on their site.

It seems that lately we have become very lack on the rule of PDA and innuendos. These rules that are normally ignored will not be anymore. No more of what has been happening will happen in public chat any longer. If you feel the need to do this then please stick to owls or ims. Because when you do those things in open chat it does offend. Before anyone asks what PDA is it is Public Display of Affection not a palm device...

Also there will be no verbal assaults or fighting in the chats. This is getting to a ridiculous point also. It is simple. You are caught arguing in open chat you get muted. You will be asked to stop once and that is it. After fighting for so many times you will end up banned. There is no excuse for these actions either. If you feel the need to argue and harass someone do it in owls or im. And if they have you blocked in owls. Leave them alone. Because they don't really care what you think of them then.

Now this will all take effect immediately. So please try not to start in with PDA, innuendos, and fighting otherwise you will just find yourself muted. Thank you.

Ok everyone, if you didn't need another reminder to set your clocks back an hour for Fall Back (End of Daylight Savings Time) then here is another one. Due to the time change of the Daylight Savings Time change, the server had some serious problems when it came to logging in and out of the site. I spent the last hour fixing the login system so that you can log into the site again.

We apologize for the downtime, but the bug should be fixed now. If you are still having trouble signing into HogwartsLive, reset your cookies and try again.

Thank you for your patience during this issue.

Witchy and myself have hidden a Halloween present around the site. Its is something that you will be able to keep after the holiday. Although it can only be bought until Halloween and then it gets taken off the market..
Happy Hunting.

This is just a quick reminder, please note that all of your donator points will be completely refunded as unspent donator points (with a little extras) after the upcoming reset. Those of you who have a valid Email Address filled out under Preferences will receive instructions on how to claim/reserve your current (old) account (username & password) approximately two weeks before the release of the new version of Hogwarts Live. Old users who reserve their account using this method will receive some small bonuses. I will post a similar notice periodically and then more frequently as the reset date nears. One last change to note is that in order to create an account on the new version we will require you to first register an account on http://www.wizards.pro/user/register due to the fact that Wizards.pro's services - such as our forums on http://harrypotter.wizards.pro/forums - will be better integrated with HL. Your username and password should be the same on both sites. Edmund and I are still brainstorming ways to simplify the registration process, so this method is subject to change slightly. We will try keep everyone updated on the upcoming changes via WizardCast. Edmund will be doing the gist of the programming for this new version and it really is up to him to set a release date, stop asking it should be in Episode III of the podcast.

Again, I thank you all for your continued patience and support; I appreciate your dedication to the success of this community and hope to find all of you enjoying the game ten fold or even more after this upgrade takes place.

AuroraBorealis is the main player and staff liaison as well as head administrator, and WitchyWoman is the head of the staff. Meaning that AuroraBorealis has the final say on anything relating to the staff or players. This allows me to focus more on other aspects of the game instead of player affairs. In other words she would be like the High Inquisitor (except not as evil), and I would be the absent Headmaster.

When you owl Edmund and I with questions or suggestions you keep us from other more important development related work (especially Edmund). Please use the Petition for Help link only to report bugs, abuse, or other technical issues that cannot be resolved by asking other more experienced players in chat or by owl. Please post all suggestions at http://harrypotter.wizards.pro/forums/roleplaying/suggestions rather than cluttering staff inboxes, thanks!

The past few weeks we have had to deal with people who give their passwords out. I am going to tell you that you will not receive anything that has been lost because you have done so. It is very unwise to give your password out to begin with, as you are held responsible for anything done on your name. It is also a good idea to have you password be fairly long and contain both numbers and letters. Thank you.
