What's in a Name?: In Hogwarts Live, your title is more than just a fancy prefix. It's a badge of honor, a mark of achievement, and a way to let everyone know you've defeated Voldemort more times than they have. It's basically bragging rights in text form.
What Are Titles?
Titles are honorifics that appear before your character's name, indicating your level of experience and prowess. They're earned by accumulating Voldemort Encounters (VEs), with each VE unlocking a new, more impressive title.
There are currently 68 different titles in Hogwarts Live, ranging from humble beginners to legendary wizards who've defeated the Dark Lord so many times they've lost count. Each title comes in three variants: male, female, and neutral, because even in a satirical Harry Potter parody, we believe in inclusivity.
How Titles Work
Your title is automatically updated each time you complete a Voldemort Encounter. The more VEs you have, the more impressive your title becomes. It's a simple progression system: defeat Voldemort, get a cooler title, repeat until you run out of Voldemorts or patience.
Titles serve several purposes:
- Status Symbol: They show other players how experienced you are at a glance.
- Bragging Rights: A fancy title is worth a thousand words, most of them being "I'm better than you."
- Progression Marker: They give you a sense of accomplishment as you advance through the game.
- Intimidation Factor: A high-level title can make weaker players think twice before attacking you in PvP.
Title Progression
Titles progress with your Voldemort Encounters, starting from humble beginnings and escalating to increasingly grandiose proclamations of your wizarding prowess:
🎓 Early Titles (VE 0-10)
Modest titles for beginners. Things like "Student," "Apprentice," and other terms that basically mean "I'm new here, please don't hurt me." Everyone starts somewhere.
⚔️ Mid-Level Titles (VE 11-30)
Respectable titles that indicate you know what you're doing. You're no longer a complete novice, and your title reflects that. People might actually take you seriously now.
🌟 Advanced Titles (VE 31-50)
Impressive titles for experienced players. At this point, you've defeated Voldemort more times than most people have had hot dinners. Your title should reflect that achievement.
👑 Legendary Titles (VE 51+)
The pinnacle of achievement. These titles are reserved for the elite few who've made defeating the Dark Lord a regular hobby. Wear them with pride, you've earned it.
Custom Titles
In addition to the standard VE-based titles, Hogwarts Live also features a custom title system that lets you set your own personalized title. When set, your custom title takes precedence over your VE-based title in chat, profiles, and other places your name appears.
Custom titles are typically earned through special events, achievements, or donator perks. They allow you to express your personality, commemorate special accomplishments, or just confuse other players with bizarre titles that make no sense. The choice is yours.
Important: Title vs. Custom Title
Your VE-based title is automatically updated when you defeat Voldemort. Your custom title is manually set and overrides your VE title when present. If you have a custom title set, your VE title is still tracked behind the scenes but won't be displayed until you clear your custom title.

Here are some example titles you'll earn as you progress through the game. There are 68 total titles, each with male, female, and neutral variants. Your title automatically updates when you complete a Voldemort Encounter.

Note: These are just examples. The game contains 68 unique titles that progress with your VE count. Each title has three variants to match your character's gender preference.
Title Strategy
There's no real "strategy" to titles — they're automatically awarded based on your VE count. The only strategy is to keep defeating Voldemort and watch your title get progressively more impressive. It's a simple system, but effective.
If you have access to custom titles, use them wisely. A clever custom title can be more memorable than even the most prestigious VE-based title. Just remember: with great power comes great responsibility, and the power to name yourself anything you want is considerable indeed.
