The Events Noticeboard

A board in the village that fills itself in before anyone else gets the chance. The Quidditch House Cup, the Fund Drive, and the Wizengamot post their own dates here without being asked, and any student who has faced Voldemort at least once may pin up a notice of their own underneath.

Where to Find It

Look for Events Noticeboard in the village, under the Info section, beside Hogwarts News and Hogwarts Students. The board is always there whether or not a single student has posted on it, because the system posts on it regardless.

What the Board Posts by Itself

  • The Quidditch House Cup's four monthly phase changes: Opening Week, the Group Stage, the Knockout Stage, and the day results are certified
  • The Fund Drive's close for the month
  • The close of the Wizengamot's voting window

Each entry appears once, on schedule, and comes off the board the moment its own date passes. Nobody removes them by hand, and nobody has to.

Posting Your Own Event

Posting is open to any student who has completed at least one Voldemort Encounter (the default bar; a staff member can move it). Give your notice a title, up to 120 characters, a date and time strictly in the future and no more than 60 days out, and, if you like, a location, up to 160 characters. Any formatting codes in the title or location are quietly removed before the post is saved, since one loose code left open could color the rest of the board. By default you may post up to five times a day, and the limit resets on the calendar day, not the game's own newday.

Mark a post House members only and its location is hidden from every House but your own. The title and time still show to everyone, so a rival House learns that something is happening even if it cannot learn where.

Reporting a Post

Every notice shows its reference number above the title, and every Report or Delete link repeats that same number. The board has thus adopted the administrative breakthrough of labeling the thing its buttons refer to. Every other student's post carries a Report link; you cannot report your own. A post can be reported exactly once, and from there it waits for staff. Reporting removes nothing by itself. It only puts the post in front of someone who can.

Removing Your Own Post

You may take down a notice you posted yourself, at any time, no explanation required. Staff can remove any post, including one the board wrote for itself, in which case that particular date simply stops appearing and the board carries on to whatever comes next.
