How It Works

Access: The Lodge (T key) → Name Colorization

Cost:

• First colorization: 2000 donation points (default firstcost)
• Subsequent changes: 5000 donation points each (default addcost)

Color Code System:

HogwartsLive uses backtick color codes:

• `0 - Reset to default
• `1 - Bold cyan
• `2 - Bold green
• `3 - Bold cyan
• `4 - Bold red
• `5 - Bold magenta
• `6 - Bold yellow
• `7 - Bold white
• `! - Dark blue
• `@ - Dark green
• `# - Cyan
• `$ - Red
• `% - Magenta
• `^ - Orange/brown
• `& - Gray
• `b - Bold text
• `i - Italic text

Creating Colored Names

Maximum 10 Color Codes: Your name can contain up to 10 backtick codes

Formatting: Insert color codes directly into your name text

Examples:

• `2Harry`4Potter = Green "Harry" + Red "Potter"
• `bRon`!Weasley = Bold "Ron" + Dark blue "Weasley"
• `i`%Hermione = Italic magenta "Hermione"
• `2S`4n`6a`4k`2e = Rainbow "Snake" (green/red/yellow alternating)
• `bBold`i Italic`0Normal = Mixed formatting

Preview:

• Live preview shows exactly how your name will appear
• Test different combinations before purchasing
• Preview updates as you type codes

Purchasing Colorization

First Time:

• Enter desired colored name with codes in text field
• Check preview to verify appearance
• Click "Colorize Name" button
• Costs 2000 donation points (default)
• Name updates immediately across entire game

Subsequent Changes:

• Same process as first time
• Costs 5000 donation points per change (default)
• No limit to number of changes (as long as you have points)
• Can remove colors entirely by entering plain name

Confirmation: "Your name is now colorful!"

Restrictions

10 Code Maximum:

• Error if you use more than 10 backtick codes
• Message: "You cannot use more than 10 color codes in your name."
• Count all codes: colors, bold, italic, reset

Name Length:

• Total character limit still applies (including codes)
• Typical limit: 25-30 characters total
• Color codes count toward character limit

Inappropriate Names:

• Same naming rules apply as regular names
• Admins can force rename if name violates rules
• No refund if renamed for rule violation

Where Colored Names Appear

• Online List: Colored name in "Who's Online" section
• Chat Messages: Name appears colored in public chat
• PVP Combat Logs: Colored name in combat results
• Leaderboards: Colored name in rankings
• Character Bio: Colored name at top of profile
• Commentary: Colored name in village commentary posts
• Forest Encounters: NPCs address you by colored name

Basically everywhere your name displays in-game.

Settings

• firstcost: Points for first colorization (default 2000)
• addcost: Points for subsequent changes (default 5000)
• maxcolors: Maximum color codes allowed (default 10)

Strategy

Plan Before Buying:

• First change is cheaper (2000 vs. 5000)
• Experiment with color combinations in preview
• Choose a design you'll be happy with long-term
• Save points by getting it right the first time

Color Combinations:

• House colors: Match your Hogwarts house (red/gold, green/silver, blue/bronze, yellow/black)
• Rainbow: Alternate colors for eye-catching effect
• Gradient: Transition from dark to light colors
• Subtle: Single color with bold/italic for elegance
• Chaos: Maximum 10 codes for seizure-inducing rainbow explosion

Readability:

• Avoid dark colors on dark backgrounds (hard to read)
• Test in different game contexts (chat, combat, online list)
• Too many colors can be hard to read
• Bold text improves visibility

Points Budget:

• 2000 points = $20 USD donation (typically)
• 5000 points = $50 USD per change
• Consider if cosmetic name worth real money cost
• Alternative: save points for gameplay benefits (extra fights, stat resets, etc.)

Show Off Status: Colored names signal donor status and financial support to server. If you want to flex your patronage, rainbow name is ultimate flex.

Removal: To remove colors, buy another change and enter plain name without codes. Still costs 5000 points to "remove" colors.
