Questions about Marriage

1. What is Marriage?

Do you REALLY want to know? We'll keep it simple and keep the answer relevant to just this game. Marriage is one of the many role-playing elements on the site. Married players get a Marriage Buff each game day they flirt with their spouse from inside Madam Puddifoot's (also known as the Love Shack).

2. How do you flirt?

Once you reach Thirdyear and can access Hogsmeade, you will be able to visit Madam Puddifoot's. Here you can flirt nicely- or not so nicely- with other players in the game. There's even a bar where lonely singles can go to meet and hang out! For more information, please view the Rules of Flirting in Mme. Puddifoot's.

3. When can I get married?

Although you can start flirting once you reach Thirdyear, you cannot get married until you are at least a Witch/Wizard (7 VEs).

4. w00t!! I finally made it! I'm a Witch/Wizard!! So NOW how do I get married?!?

You sure you really want to know? Okay.but don't say I didn't warn you. Just as in Real Life, a little flirting must happen before a couple can get married (unless of course you happen to order your bride from some type of mail-order catalog, but we won't get into that here). If you have received at least 100 flirt points from a player, you can Propose to them. If you have sent at least 100 flirt points to a person, they can Propose to you. The figure is 100 exactly, and it is not moved by sincerity, urgency, or the argument that you feel quite strongly already.

5. How do I Propose to someone?

Once you have enough flirt points from your intended, go into Madam Puddifoot's and Talk to Madam Puddifoot. She keeps a list of everyone you have flirted with and everyone who has flirted with you, which is a slightly unnerving thing to learn about a tea shop owner. Next to each name is a Show/Hide Data option. Open it, and if your true love is of age, a Propose option is waiting underneath. It is several more clicks than romance is traditionally supposed to require, and you are nearly there.

6. Uhh.wait. Shouldn't I have a ring?

Good question! As soon as you click on Propose, Tanat shows up and reminds you of that very thing! For 2000 gold, he will sell you one then send you back in to re-Propose. I know, I know. it's a bit of running around, but this gives you one more chance to back out just in case you change your mind about the whole marriage thing.

7. How do I accept or reject a proposal?

When someone proposes to you, you will receive an owl informing you of the momentous occasion. As mentioned previously, you BOTH need to be at or above Witch/Wizard to get married. Assuming this is the case, go to the Hogsmeade Bluerock Chapel to view it and then choose to Accept or Reject it. Congratulations (hopefully)! You're married!

8. Can I get a divorce?

After all that proposing and re-proposing, you want a divorce?! Nope. Sorry. I tried to warn you. Online marriage is binding thank you very much. Haha, just kidding. Yes, you can get a divorce. Just go back to the Chapel in Hogsmeade and you will see the option there.

9. I'm a girl/boy and I want to marry another girl/boy. Is that possible?

Yes, same gender unions are allowed. The procedure is the same.

10. Who's Married?

You may view the list of married couples in Madam Puddifoot's in Hogsmeade.
