The Owl Post Daily Treat
Once a day, an owl will carry one free treat from you to a friend. It arrives with a little gold, occasionally something warmer, and the distinct impression that someone was thinking of you. The owls deliver exactly one treat per person per day. They unionized; do not argue with them.
What It Is
The Owl Post Daily Treat is a small daily act of generosity with a return address. Each game day you may send one treat to one friend. Your friend opens it at the Owl Post and finds gold tucked inside, sometimes accompanied by a flask of warm butterbeer. There is no cost to you, no postage, and no way to send a second one before tomorrow.
Treats only travel between confirmed friends. The owls check the friendship from both ends before taking wing — a one-sided friendship is, to an owl, no friendship at all.
Where to Find It
The Owl Post lives in the village. From the village screen look for "Daily Treat" under the Owl Post nav. When treats are waiting for you, a header notice appears on the village and Owl Post pages with an owl, a count of unopened treats, and an Open Your Treats button.
How to Claim
Sending and opening are two separate acts:
- To send: visit the Owl Post, choose a friend from your list (there is a name filter for the over-friended), and the owl departs. That is your one delivery for the day.
- To open: when a friend has sent you a treat, return to the Owl Post and click Open Your Treats. Every unopened treat opens at once.
Opening pays 150 gold per treat (the admin default), multiplied by however many you had waiting. Five unopened treats become 750 gold in a single click. The gold drops into your pouch immediately.
The owls will tell you who each treat was from. If a sender's account has since vanished, the treat is attributed only to "a departed friend," which is exactly as melancholy as it sounds.
The Treats
Every treat carries gold. A treat also has a 25% chance (admin default) of carrying a bonus buff when you open your batch:
| Reward | What it gives |
|---|---|
| Gold | 150 gold per treat (default), banked the moment you open. |
| Warm Butterbeer | A healing buff lasting 5 rounds. Each round restores health equal to roughly half your level. When it ends: "The warm glow of the butterbeer fades." You can only carry one Warm Butterbeer at a time — a second flask won't stack onto an active one. |
The butterbeer is rolled once per batch you open, not once per treat, so opening a stack of five does not give you five chances at it. The owls are generous, not reckless.
Sending One Back
When you open a treat, the owls offer a Send One Back link for each distinct friend who sent you one — provided you have not already used today's delivery. It is reciprocity reduced to a single click. If you have already sent your treat for the day, the owls note this politely and promise to take another tomorrow.
Timing & Limits
- One send per day, measured against your own local date. When midnight rolls over in your timezone, the owls are ready again.
- Friendship must be mutual. The owls only deliver to your friends, and only if you appear on their friend list too.
- Five unopened treats maximum per recipient (admin default). If a friend's perch is already stacked with five unopened treats, the owl returns yours — nudge them to log in and open some first.
- No delivery to the unwilling. If someone has ignored you, the owl comes back looking apologetic. Locked or missing accounts are likewise undeliverable.
- You cannot send to yourself. The owl refuses the address.
Milestones
The Owlery keeps a ledger of lifetime treats sent and rewards persistence with Donator Points:
| Milestone | Reward |
|---|---|
| 100 Treats Sent | 25 Donator Points. The Owlery formally recognizes a habit of generosity. |
| 500 Treats Sent | 75 Donator Points. The owls have voted you an honorary perch. The paperwork was extensive. |
Claim each milestone from the Owl Post home page once you reach it. There are also Owlery badges recorded at 25, 100, and 500 treats sent — granted quietly as your generosity accumulates.
The Owl Post Daily Treat: a system that allows a wizard to spend nothing, send something, and still feel, briefly, like a good person. The owls make no judgment on this. The owls make no judgment on anything, except your empty perch when no treats are waiting.
