Collection Sets

A meta-layer that sits quietly on top of every cosmetic badge you own and keeps score. Each set is a named group of badges; the castle counts how many of them you hold, displays "X of Y collected" on your profile, and — when you finally hold every last one — awards a legendary set-bonus badge for the trouble. You cannot buy a completed set. You complete it by owning its members, which the registry verifies against your actual collection and not against your enthusiasm.

How It Works

  • Completion is derived from the badges you own, re-checked every time you log in. There is no claim button to game and no way to mark a set complete that you have not earned.
  • Each set shows "X of Y collected" on your profile, and a tidy "Sets Complete N/M" on your character sheet.
  • Click "Sets Complete" on your character sheet to open the collections board — a single ledger of every set: which you have finished, which you have not, and, for the ones you have not, the precise list of what each still wants and where it is to be found. The castle would prefer you keep track yourself, but has resigned itself to assisting.
  • Owning every member grants a legendary set-bonus badge, exactly once. Owning a sixth copy of anything, as ever, is not possible and not encouraged.
  • Members are drawn from badges you may already hold — from the Emporium, the Term Pass, or honors earned through play.

What Completion Pays

The legendary badge is the trophy; it is not the whole of the reward. Completing a set also pays out, on the spot:

  • A flat handful of gold, granted for every set you finish.
  • A Donator Point refund worth a fifth of what you spent at the Emporium to assemble the set — which means it pays only on the sets you actually bought your way into, and pays nothing on the ones you earned for free. The bookkeeping is, regrettably, fair.
  • A line in the news, so the castle is aware of your achievement whether or not it asked to be.

The Compleat Collector is the one you buy rather than earn: hold every item on the Emporium's shelves and the set closes, returning a fifth of the Donator Points it took to get there (500, as the shelves currently stand). The administration may add further sets, an act it regards with the same weary inevitability as the start of a new term.
