Sichae's Apple Bobbing

Shop. Pay 2 gold (default) to bob for apples in barrels. Every dunk comes out one of three ways: a rare Blue Apple that buffs your defense, a Poison Apple that debuffs you and shuts down the barrel for the rest of the day, or an ordinary apple that just heals a bit of HP. 3 attempts per day (default). Sichae is mysteriously beautiful and her laugh makes you relax, which is not at all suspicious.

Location

Sichae's Apple Bobbing Stand appears in the village market navigation. Look for "Sichae's Apple Bobbing" in the shops section.

How It Works

You approach barrels filled with red, yellow, and green apples. Sichae stands with hands on hips in jade and blue silk garments, regarding you with a mysterious smile. Her lithe muscles flex as she pads over.

She says: "Ah! A visitor to the realms! So you think you can do this, do you? It shall be amusing to see you try." She laughs beautifully. "2 gold to show me what talent you possess. And one of the apples is special indeed."

Pay 2 gold (default, configurable) per attempt. You can bob 3 times per day (default, configurable). Results are random.

Requirements

Cost: 2 gold per attempt (default)

Daily Limit: 3 attempts (default)

Stomach Capacity: If you've already eaten 3 apples, your stomach protests and you can't play anymore today

Gold Requirement: If you don't have enough gold, you can't play

Possible Outcomes

Every attempt resolves to exactly one of three outcomes, rolled fresh each time you plunge your head into the barrel:

  • Blue Apple (1-in-10 chance): Sichae's "finest achievement." You come up with a buff — "Blue Apple Mystique," +3% defmod for 20 rounds. Rare, and purely beneficial.
  • Poison Apple (roughly 1-in-4 chance on any roll that isn't the Blue Apple): Looks and tastes like an ordinary green apple, but it's been tampered with. You get "Poison Apple," a -3% defmod debuff for 20 rounds, hallucinate imaginary monsters, and the barrel is closed to you for the rest of the day — this outcome force-ends your apple bobbing session regardless of how many attempts you had left.
  • Ordinary Apple (everything else): No buff, no debuff. Just a snack — heals a small amount of HP (roughly 5%), capped so it won't push you meaningfully past full health.

There is no gold, no gems, and no bonus turns hiding in any barrel. This is a small, self-contained gamble between "slightly better defense," "slightly worse defense and go home early," and "free minor heal."

Sichae's Character

Sichae is described in loving detail: silken jade/blue garments, lithe muscles, delicate neck, deep beautiful laugh that makes you relax. She's mysteriously confident about your chances. This level of character description for a simple apple bobbing vendor is either very dedicated world-building or someone had a crush on their OC. We're not judging.

Strategy

Low Cost: 2 gold per attempt is trivial. Nothing here is worth hoarding gold over.

Expected Value: There's no gold or gem upside to chase — the best you can hope for is a minor defense buff, and the worst is a minor defense debuff plus getting cut off for the day. Play it for the flavor text, not the returns.

Risk Awareness: Because the Poison Apple ends your session immediately, there's no way to "push your luck" back toward the Blue Apple after a bad roll — one poisoned barrel and you're done bobbing until tomorrow.

Sichae's Apple Bobbing: where you pay gold to dunk your face in water and hope for treasure. A dignified pursuit befitting a wizard of your stature.
